Christmas is almost upon us and with that in mind it is an ideal time to focus on the catering department within the college, it's staff,students and the outlets that they operate, namely the bakery and scholars restaurant. Also, over the last couple of weeks I have been contacting various local organisations such as the CVS to try and put together a feature on volunteering opportunities and the benefits for students. Further to this I had a very positive meeting with Toni Comer, communications manager at the King George's Hall who has very kindly offered us an interview on the background and history of the venue along with our addition to their media list with full press access to events/gigs and interviews with the visiting artists and celebrities.
This does press upon us the urgency to find a platform for the broadcasting of these shows, as it is all well and good us creating the content and me sourcing these contacts and opportunities but without a platform it will be virtually impossible for us to be taken seriously.

Work experience - Preston FM/BBC Radio Lancashire Workshop
As part of my connection to Preston FM I was invited to an interactive workshop run by managing editor of BBC Radio Lancashire, John Clayton.
The focus on the workshop was improving presenting technique.
The main points of which were:
Being yourself
enjoying what you do and emulating it
Identifying the listener *
making it personal to the listener *
making it seem effortless
* I say listener, as one of the main points made was that as a presenter you should only present to 1 person.
I found the workshop informative and useful even though there wasn't a great deal of content.
The points raised were relevant and I hope to take them on board when developing my own presenting style.
Following on from this workshop I sourced a copy of Peter Stewart's book 'Essential radio skills - How to present and produce a radio show' in my local library. In the book he lists the qualities a radio presenter should have:
