Film a month project - location scouting
After taking a closer look at the chosen phone-box it was unfortunately deemed unsuitable due to the internal condition and also the audible humming of an electrical sub-station located a few feet away. It was decided that we should take a look at some of the others that had been recce'd, but unfortunately none were suitable. We were therefore left with no choice but to go on a further scout for a suitable location. As we had 2 cars we split into 2 teams and after several hours of driving through the back lanes of the Ribble valley we came across one which appeared suitable.

Film a month project - Audio piece
As part of the project I was asked to script and record an audio piece which is to be an excerpt from a local radio show. It was decided as we had permission, to incorporate The Crookes song 'It's just not Christmas without you' and also the voice over that we wrote for Marcus Bentley after I had edited it to include a musical bed and turned it into a full radio promo.
Firstly I had to decide on the format of the excerpt ie. the running order. I felt that it had to have the feel of local radio to fit in with the persona of the main character 'Eric'. I decided that the best way to do this was to cut in at the end of a news bulletin, insert the jingle and then record the link in to The Crookes. This would have the effect of setting the scene very quickly, letting the audience know that it was Christmas time,give reference to the weather we hoped to film in,the fact that Eric was listening to local radio and quickly arrive at the musical introduction.
The idea for the news story came from our recce of the telephone boxes and the impression that we must have given to local residents so I decided to write a story about local youths appearing in court charged with vandalising telephone boxes.
For the promo we found some royalty free Christmas music and I took a sleigh bell sound effect from my personal library and using Audacity I first looped the sleigh bell effect then added a section of the music as a second layer, finally adding the voice over on top. I then adjusted the amplification levels of each layer to blend it together as a single piece and finally added a fade effect to the end to create the final jingle.
